Wildview Trail Camera

This is my first experience with trail cameras. I really like the idea of watching animals undetected. So I took the plunge, the wildviews were on sale for $35.99 what do I got to lose? I am only spending $35, right? Wrong! I can see now this is just the beginning, I have already started looking at more expensive models.

The camera I have takes pretty good day pictures, the trigger speed seems fine. After 2 days I had 18 pics, not counting the pics of myself checking the camera. The camera I have doesn't stamp the date and time on the pic, I would like to have this feature. The newer Wildviews have this option. Also the camera doesn't do well at night, flash good for only 15 feet.

Review

I needed a light weight easy to carry pistol to be used as a backup or as a primary firearm while hunting. Where I hunt in the river bottoms there are many varmints such as Cottonmouths, Copperheads and Rattlers that need to be kept under control. I also wanted a caliber that would be big enough for the occasional hog I might stumble across and possibly to be used to take a deer. The Tracker seems to fit the bill.

When I started looking for a new pistol I was drawn to the tracker because of price, caliber selection, durability, and size/weight. The tracker in .41, .44, and .45 retail new in the $400-$450 range. I had my heart set on a .41 mag, but settled for a .45 colt because I already load for the many .45's I own. However I am not able to use the same high pressure loads I shoot in my Ruger. The Tracker is a durable well built handgun but the high pressure Ruger/Freedom Arms hunting loads will take its toll on this lighter pistol. The fit is tight and the finish is in a tough matte stainless which I prefer over the high gloss. My old hips can't take to carrying a heavy revolver like when I was young, but the Tracker seems to be of moderate weight that is tolerable to lug around on my belt all day.

The first time I picked up a Tracker I wasn't too sure of the ribbed grips but after shooting a few rounds through it I have grown to like them and appreciate the shock absorbing effect. I also like the big adjustable sights, after shooting many cowboy six guns with almost non-existing sights, the trackers sites are a relief to these old eyes. I shoot mostly single action so that is how I shot my first rounds through the tracker using cowboy loads. I was very surprised at how quickly I was on target. After about 25 rds I switched to some heavy loads. I probably shouldn't have shot these heavy rounds but I had to give it a try. The recoil was very noticeable but also manageable, the ported barrel helped. I did experience some cylinder jam but I believe that was due to the loads. The double action trigger pull seemed long but fairly smooth.

I have settled on a high end medium load using 11gr of HS6 with a JHC 240 gr Sierra bullet. I estimate I will get around 1000fps. This should pack plenty of bang for my need.
