Lake Greeson, AR

After a cold front and 3 days of near freezing temperatures, the crappies have moved back out. On Saturday the 14th it was cold and raining in the morning but I found some fish in 15-20 ft of water. I was pleased I got my biggest crappie to date, 15 inches. This is the biggest Crappie I have ever caught and it isn't even considered a trophy for Lake Greason.

The guys at Family Fishing Trips out of Hot Springs regularly take 2+ lb fish, on February 28th their boat took 1 crappie pushing 3 lbs and 4 more over 2lbs. These guys sure know crappies and Lake Greason. I have heard nothing but good about these guys and every time I see or talk to them they're great.

If you want to fish with Darryl Morris(Family Fishing Trips) or just see pictures of their daily catches: Family Fishing Trips

The trout fishing is still great below the dam. My grandson Matt and I have been out to the dam twice and caught some nice rainbows each trip. Matt caught his first trout, a 12 incher last week all by himself. See the pictures on the Fishing page.

The 3 feet winter draw down has been refilled, as of the 15th. The trout are really hit the yellow power eggs on a small trout hook floated up off the bottom. Shore fishing seems just about as good as getting out in a boat. The park sure is a great spot to get the kids out fishing.

I have heard reports that the Walleye are still spawning and the strippers are hitting at dusk.

The crappies are biting real light in 24-30 feet of water. The spotted bass are also hanging around the crappie condo's.

I had never fished Cathrine so I gathered as much info as I could get and headed to Carpenter Dam for an evening of Walleye fishing. I did alot of scouting, caught some trout in 14ft and a very large sunfish(red ear), tight lineing and slip bobber with crawlers. I moved further down the river channel. Seen fish on the sonar but no bites on the crawlers. Tried a crankbait in 28ft one good hookup. The water at the dam is cold, 61. Stripers are starting to run up by the dam. I didn't catch the striper above, it was caught by the dam.
